Packaging of the Month November 2024: Carry On – Shampoo and Shower Gel Bottles with Integrated Travel Size
People from Asia are known to love to travel. This may also apply to the young South Korean designer Seokoo Yeo. Perhaps this inspired him to design packaging for shampoos, conditioners and shower gels that are suitable for both home and travel. This is precisely what characterizes the packaging he developed for the Carry On brand. But regardless of the background to his idea, in our eyes the packaging concept, which also scores highly in terms of user convenience, is so clever that we have no hesitation in naming it Packaging of the Month for November 2024.
Award-winning packaging with real added value
We are not the only ones to pay tribute to the Carry On packaging; Seokoo Yeo has received the Asian Design Award for his stroke of genius this year – and quite rightly so. The well-thought-out packaging consists of a large and a small bottle that is integrated into the handle to save space. This extra feature allows the consumer to decant some of the hair or body care product from the large container into the small bottle and take the latter with them on vacation. The benefit is obvious: thanks to the 2-in-1 solution, the consumer saves the trouble of buying separate travel sizes and thus both effort and money. The compact bottle holds about 50 milliliters, which is usually enough for about a week.
Other features of the Carry On packaging
In addition to the “dual concept,” there are various details that make the Carry On packaging a real highlight. After the user has removed the small container, the large bottle has a normal handle so that it can be easily held and transported. The built-in pump is also extremely practical: to use the shampoo, conditioner or shower gel, the consumer simply presses down on the dispenser and the desired product flows out. Considering the relatively large filling quantity, this aspect makes everyday use much easier. The container can be left permanently on a shelf in the shower or around the bathtub, ready for use at any time.
Final word
Convenience is clearly the focus at Carry On. With the packaging, Seokoo Yeo wants to make personal care convenient for consumers in every way – at home and while traveling. The rest of the packaging design is deliberately minimalist to highlight the extensive benefits.
